Great Time

Man, we had a great time in England and Scotland.  We put over 800 miles on the rent car and saw a lot of two countries.  There are a few things about the UK I have to air , though.  No sheets, or washrags. It was hard to find napkins in restaurants more than once.  Their second tier highways aren’t wide enough, often.  Round abouts while helping with traffic flow are pretty confusing sometimes and the signage can vary in positioning.  I did start getting the hang of them though before it was all said and done.  I’m not so fond of one lane roads with two way traffic including blind curves and hills.  It does tend to hone your driving skills, however or your built in radar.  The moors in the Calderdale area were beautiful and the walking trails are great and plentiful.  My legs are in the best shape they have been in for a long time.  For some reason, there is an aversion for automatic transmissions over there in Europe, not sure why.  They are all purists I suppose.  I was in a friends big Jag part of the time and it even had a straight stick.  My rent car was automatic and I appreciated not having to think about shifting backwards while I concentrated on the other aspects of driving on the wrong side of the road, there, I said it, wrong side.  haha!

Glad to hear that you had a good time across the “pond”. I can’t wait to see some pictures and talk to you more about your trip!

Thanks for sending me the link to your pictures. It looks like you saw some beautiful areas and I bet you had some awesome hikes. I still want to hear the stories about driving over there. The pictures made it look like some of the roads are barely big enough for a car to travel on. Good thing you were not driving a big SUV.
